David Patton, an avid mushroom forager, will discuss the amazing world of wild fungi that reside locally, including species that are beautiful, edible, medicinal and even deadly. Co-sponsored by the Land Trust.
Join Dave Paton in search of morel mushrooms, the first mushrooms of the season. Meet at the top of Sugar Hill.
George Wallace, a birding expert and conservationist, will discuss birding phone apps with an emphasis on apps that are both effective and free. Co-sponsored by the Salisbury Association Land Trust.
The Troutbeck Symposium is a student-led collaboration uncovering local history through documentaries, art exhibitions, and conversation. Middle and high school students from 14 regional public and independent schools have researched local histories of communities of color and other marginalized groups.
Hank Gruner, a herpetologist, will present a historical overview of the decline of the timber rattlesnake. Efforts to eradicate rattlesnakes has led to the loss of many populations, and their conservation remains challenging. Co-sponsored by the Salisbury Association Land Trust.
An exhibit on view at the Academy Building from May 25 through the end of July tells the story of a dramatic decline in the biodiversity of local animal species.
