Salisbury Conservation Commission 2026 Upcoming Event

Salisbury lies in the middle of the Atlantic Flyway, a sort of bird highway that millions of migrating birds pass through every year. Light pollution can wreak havoc on our night skies and have a devastating impact on our bird and wildlife populations Light pollution has also been shown to have negative impacts on human health. Artificial Light At Night (ALAN) has been shown to increase cancer risks primarily endocrine related cancers such as breast and prostate. ALAN has also been shown to be a factor in Parkinson’s Disease, early onset Alzheimer’s, diabetes, stress, and obesity. Let’s keep our night skies dark!
Please join the Cornwall, Salisbury and Sharon Conservation Commissions, and the Salisbury Association Land Trust, in collaboration with the Sharon Audubon Center, to learn how we can mitigate night sky light pollution impacts.
Speakers: Craig Repasz, Co-Founder of the Lights Out Connecticut and Leo Smith, Northeast Regional Director and Connecticut Chapter Chair of DarkSky.
