John E. Scofield
John E. Scofield is an artist living in Sharon, CT who also works in furniture, sculpture, landscape and architectural design. His Folding Music Stand is in the Permanent Design Collection of the Museum of Modern Art. After attending The Rochester Institute of Technology Scofield worked for Wendell Castle, a well-known sculptor and furniture maker, under a Tiffany Foundation grant. Robert Motherwell bought a chair of Scofield’s and hired him to be his first full time assistant. Scofield worked for Motherwell from 1975 to 1978. Scofield's work has been published and reviewed in Arts, Design Times, Elle Decor, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Metropolis, New York Times, Progressive Architecture, Traditional Home, Vogue and other publications.
